A Wedding in OBX

This past weekend we went to our first beach wedding in the Outer Banks...alas, the rain had other ideas and we went to our first indoor beach wedding. But it was still a lovely time, and marked Sean's very first visit to OBX, a place so revered here that it's practically its own religion.

On Saturday, Sean, Jen, Ashleigh and I ventured out to grab lunch before the wedding and ended up at Tortuga's Lie a Caribbean-inspired restaurant in Nags Head.

It was, as my dad would say, a "joint."

And had the seal of approval from Guy Fieri, whose name Sean will never remember.

I ended up with a Jamaican Jerk burger with Swiss cheese that I'll be replicating at home and we all fawned over the Island Fries, which are simply well-done with course salt and pepper.

The wedding itself was at Jennette's Pier, a pretty incredible location with amazing ocean views. Ashleigh and I worked over Labor Day weekend to make the directional signage and even though the rain made them a little less necessary, Erica sweetly made sure one of them got used. We stained craft store balsa wood to get the aged look!
All of us with our stylish umbrellas!

Erica looked amazing in her Maggie Sottero dress (I think? Correct me if I'm wrong, Erica!) and when she and Dave had their first kiss, it looked so romantic.

Aren't they the cutest? Love them.

There were lots of little touches that made it theirs, like a wide selection of wine (Erica is the co-founder of wine club, and used to help her dad make wine in the basement!) and beer, including Purple Haze! I liked the champagne coupes, which immediately gave it a Gatsby feel.

We were also mesmerized by her champagne flutes, with sparkly stems and crystal bases.

All in all, we had an amazing little getaway and such a fun time celebrating with Erica. Now we're going to have to scheme our next OBX venture...any restaurant recommendations, friends?
